NOT Yours!

It’s Still my Email Address

And definitely NOT YOURS!

I’ve previously shared how various namesakes πŸŒ around the world believe my Gmail account is really theirsβ€”even though they can never actually read any email πŸ“§ that arrives at that address.

I don’t really understand why this keeps happening, but it never seems to stop πŸ”„. Clearly, I’m the cleverest namesake of them all πŸ§ πŸ’‘β€”having created this Gmail account back in 2003, secured with a strong password πŸ” and multi-factor authentication βœ….

No matter what, my account remains firmly under my control πŸ›‘οΈ, standing strong against all these mistaken identities.

It looks like I’ve applied for a job at a Tesco store in Plymouth πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§, where the pay is around Β£12/hourβ€”not too shabby! πŸ’·

I have set a strong 128-character password having reset it via email. πŸŽπŸ”’

Tesco’s system respects strong security practices (for passwords) but don’t verify the email address in the user signupβ€”meaningmy email is being (ab)used by someone else. πŸ˜Œβœ‰οΈπŸ”‘

At least Microsoft keeps it professional βœ…. On the very same day, someone tried to create a Microsoft account using my email address πŸ”. But here’s the important part: Microsoft requires (not)me to verify my email before the account can be created. Yay, Microsoft! πŸŽ‰

Without the verification code (I actually received two) there’s no way anyone can complete the new account setup. No bypassing allowed! πŸš«πŸ”‘

This kind of proactive verification adds a much-needed layer of security and peace of mind. πŸ™Œ
